Dove Awards Program

Donate to the Annual Dove Awards!

UPDATE 3-12-20

In light of growing concerns about the COVID-19 virus, and as a precautionary measure to help prevent the transmission of this or any other virus, we must cancel the 2020 Dove Awards Program scheduled for Friday, March 20, 2020 at the San Marino Club in Troy.

I know that we were all looking forward to this event, and I am truly sorry that we must make this decision.

If you, or someone you know, have purchased tickets to this event, please know the following:

  1. If the ticket purchaser would like a refund, we are able to provide it. Please call The Arc office at 248-816-1900.
  2. The original intent of the Annual Dove Awards Program was to have the net proceeds of the event go directly into The Arc of Oakland County’s agency programs and services that support children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  If the ticket purchaser would like to consider the purchase of their ticket(s) to be a charitable donation directly to these causes, it would be greatly appreciated.  100% of the ticket purchase will go to the charitable causes.  We will send you an individual thank you receipt letter.

Sincerely,

Tom Kendziorski
Executive Director
The Arc of Oakland County

Every year The Arc of Oakland County holds an Awards Presentation and Silent Auction where we recognize the efforts of individuals within our community and state that, through their dedication and commitment, have enhanced the lives of persons with developmental and intellectual disabilities.  This agency fundraiser is a celebration of the selflessness and achievements of individuals who help others.

Awards are presented in several categories together with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Over twelve hundred nomination forms are sent out to professionals, families, members and friends of The Arc of Oakland County. Each and every nomination that is sent back to The Arc is reviewed by a Selection Committee comprised of individuals working in the fields of mental health and special education, together with a parent representative and a volunteer.

All nominations are due into The Arc office by Friday, February 7, 2020. The Selection Committee will meet the following week and the award recipients will be notified shortly thereafter. Nominations may be sent by mail (1641 W. Big Beaver Rd., Troy, MI 48084), fax (248-816-1906) or emailed (amurowany@thearcoakland.org) to the office. Any support material should be mailed or dropped off at the office.

SAVE THE DATE! The 51st Dove Awards Presentation & Silent Auction will be held on Friday, March 19, 2021 at the San Marino Club

As in the past several years, the Fundraising Committee has elected to hold a Silent Auction. We would like our members and friends to consider making a donation to the Silent Auction. We are looking for new items, both large and small. The committee combines the smaller donated items to create “packages” of items to bid on.

Some suggestions are: gift certificates to restaurants, stores, salons and hotels; sports tickets and jerseys; theatre and opera tickets; days/weeks in your vacation condo/home; spa and fitness club packages; golf related items and rounds of golf; and electronics. Of course there is more out there and we welcome any contribution you can make!

Additional suggestions would be baskets of items centered on a theme such as, an “Italian Basket” with olive oil, pasta sauces, etc.; a “Coffee Lover Basket” with various flavors of coffee, coffee mugs, cookies, etc.; and a “Zoo Basket” with fun items from the Detroit Zoological Store with day passes.

To volunteer to help with the Silent Auction, please call The Arc office at 248-816-1900.
